Dating from 1876 and set on the village green, The Old Chapel has been renovated to a very high standard as reflected in its 5 star rating. Located in the quiet village of Sturminster Marshall you can step back in time with many pretty, thatched cottages, commemorative oak trees and even a maypole. Perfectly located, you are close to the village pub and general stores, the New Forest is about a 15 minute drive away and the whole Jurassic Coast is within easy exploring distance. You have miles of golden sandy beaches at Poole, Bournemouth and Sandbanks or stay inland and enjoy the stunning Dorset countryside.
The accommodation at The Old Chapel comprises of a large, modern kitchen/diner with large doors that lead out to the pretty courtyard garden. The kitchen comes very well equipped with range style electric cooker with ceramic hob and 1 and a 1/2 ovens, microwave, American style fridge/freezer with cold water supply and ice maker and dishwasher. The dining area has an oak table and leather chairs and there is a utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer. A cloakroom with basin and toilet rounds off the ground floor.
Up the open tread spiral staircase to the first floor to the mezzanine lounge with 3 leather sofas, one of which can convert to a double bed, 47" TV, DVD player, iPod dock and WiFi. Views over the formal dining area and further views across the village green.
Back on the ground floor are the two en-suite bedrooms. The double bedroom has a 4ft 6in double bed, wall mounted flat screen TV and en-suite shower room with double shower enclosure, hand basin, toilet, shaver point and heated towel rail. The twin bedroom has two 3ft single beds, wall mounted flat screen TV and en-suite shower room with corner shower enclosure, hand basin, toilet, shaver point and heated towel rail.
Outside there is a landscaped rear courtyard garden with slate beds featuring a variety of plants with a paved patio area furnished with wicker style dining table and chairs. Positioned to catch the evening sun there is a raised decking area with pergola complete with table and chairs. The Old Chapel accepts up to two well behaved dogs. Parking is available on the street around the green. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Wimborne Minster, more often called just Wimborne, lies about 5 miles North of Poole and is named after the impressive church in the town. Dating back to the 12th century the town is rich in character and the old and the new have merged together seamlessly.Read more
Wimborne has a large and well established market that runs on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the edge of the town to accommodate the size of the event. If you are holidaying in the area in November then visit the fireworks display which boasts to be the longest display in the county, an honour it has held since 2004. Every June the town hosts the Wimborne Minster Folk Festival which dates back to 1980. Highly regarded nationally, the annual event of traditional folf dance and song sees one of the largest gatherings of dance teams and musicians in the South of England and attracts over 20,000 people across the weekend.
Notable attractions in the area include the Tivoli Theatre, a fully restored 'Art Deco' theatre dating to 1936 which now shows the latest films in its 500 seats. Wimborne Model Town was built over 50 years ago and is a 1/10th scale model village that amazes its visitors from all over the world with its quality and realism. They also have an award winning sensory garden, giant chess, putting lawn, model railway gift shop and tea room. The Prists's House Museum and Garden is located in the heart of Wimborne and tells the story of East Dorset from the 17th century with 10 galleries to explore.
