Poole

Beaches

Described as Britain's best beaches, Poole has four beaches (five if you include Sandbanks) that have won more Blue Flag awards than any other UK resort. The soft, golden sands are cleaned and raked every day of the year. Shore Raod beach offers a gradual sloping beach and safe, clean water. There is a launch zone for kitesurfers and windsurfers and watersports hire is available close by. Canford Cliffs beach is a tranquil area with a steep, sandy cliff that is a haven for wildlife. A great beach to just chill out on while admiring the beach huts dating back to the 1920s. If you are holidaying with your dog then Branksome beach allows pets all year round. Safe waters and a range of places to get a meal also make it a great beach to visit with children. if none of these appeal (what's wrong with you!) then there are also sandy harbour beaches to visit at Hamworthy and Rockley Park.

Events

A huge range of events throughout the year so please check at the time of your visit for specifics but here are some to whet your appetite. Summer Breeze on the Quay is a free music and firework event every Thursday in late July and August. Every Friday evening is the Quay for my Car event that has a different theme each week, from Beetles to American muscle cars. Grooves on the Green is an annual music event in Parkstone, Poole with 2 music stages, stuff for kids, real ale lovers, comedy and poetry. It's like a mini Glastonbury but with good weather! In the middle of June come and enjoy Paye Day, Poole's annual pirate day including the infamous Pirate Parade.

Activities and Attractions

Again there are too many to list them all here so here is a taster. Brownsea Island is a National Trust island in Poole Harbour with outdoor centre that feels like a different world. Poole Museum shows a huge range from art to pirates! The Lighthouse is Poole's centre for the arts. Tower Park is a waterpark and swimming pool, cinema, bowling, soft play and bingo making it a great visit all year round. Compton Acres is 10 acres of the finest, historic gardens. Splashdown is a waterpark with something for everyone with some thrilling water flumes.

As for activities then it is watersports galore, whether you are bringing your own or wish to hire or just starting out and need some lessons then it's all available to you. You name it and it is available to you. Or hire a boat and explore the area on water.

Eating Out

As you would expect pretty much every taste frm around the planet is catered for as is every budget and style. From your traditional fish and chips to top notch French cuisine with some great views while you eat at several locations too.
