Longhouse Lodge is located in the hamlet of Mannington, an open plan timber lodge created from a former barn full of charm with wood panelling and a cosy wood burning stove. You are well placed to explore nearby towns of Wimborne, the beaches of Poole and Bournemouth or to go and explore the New Forest National Park. Closer to home, Holt Heath Nature reserve is a short walk away, slightly further is Moors Valley Country Park and within walking distance are not one but two pubs. Or just stay at the lodge and enjoy the 7.5 acre owner's alpaca and equestrian smallholding.

The accommodation at Longhouse Lodge is all on the ground floor and comprises of open plan accommodation with sitting and dining area with wood burning stove, Sky TV, DVD player, iPod dock, WiFi and selection of books and games. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and shared use of washing machine and tumble dryer in adjacent log cabin. The bed is a king-size double and the bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath with shower over, toilet and basin.

Outside there a gravelled area with furniture as well as a shared firepit and barbecue in a nearby paddock. There is off road parking for two cars, secure undercover bike storage and Longhouse Lodge accepts one well behaved dog to be kept on a lead at all times due to livestock nearby. Please not babes-in-arms only. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Wimborne Minster, more often called just Wimborne, lies about 5 miles North of Poole and is named after the impressive church in the town. Dating back to the 12th century the town is rich in character and the old and the new have merged together seamlessly.

Events

Wimborne has a large and well established market that runs on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the edge of the town to accommodate the size of the event. If you are holidaying in the area in November then visit the fireworks display which boasts to be the longest display in the county, an honour it has held since 2004. Every June the town hosts the Wimborne Minster Folk Festival which dates back to 1980. Highly regarded nationally, the annual event of traditional folf dance and song sees one of the largest gatherings of dance teams and musicians in the South of England and attracts over 20,000 people across the weekend.

Activities and Attractions

Notable attractions in the area include the Tivoli Theatre, a fully restored 'Art Deco' theatre dating to 1936 which now shows the latest films in its 500 seats. Wimborne Model Town was built over 50 years ago and is a 1/10th scale model village that amazes its visitors from all over the world with its quality and realism. They also have an award winning sensory garden, giant chess, putting lawn, model railway gift shop and tea room. The Prists's House Museum and Garden is located in the heart of Wimborne and tells the story of East Dorset from the 17th century with 10 galleries to explore.
